Aleksanyan Proposed Public Hearings on the Report of the 44-Day War

“Do you want a report (the report of the investigative commission studying the circumstances of the 44-day war)? Let’s resolve this issue here so that this topic does not become an object of manipulation next time,” stated Vahagn Aleksanyan in the National Assembly, addressing opposition MP Gegham Manukyan.

Earlier, Manukyan had announced that during the last session of the National Assembly, it was decided that the report of the investigative commission would effectively not be published or presented to the National Assembly.

“Mr. Kocharyan, I ask you and I suggest your commission members: let’s organize public hearings, during which the open part of that report will be presented not only to the parliament but also to our society,” Aleksanyan proposed, emphasizing that he was talking about the “open part.”

“Let the entire public listen, Mr. Manukyan, so that when you receive calls asking, ‘What have you brought upon us?’ you will know what answer to give. Mr. Kocharyan, do you accept my suggestion? Shall we discuss this? Very well. Let them at least listen to the open part of the report,” Aleksanyan addressed Andranik Kocharyan.

He concluded, “In the pre-election campaign video of the ‘Armenia’ bloc, which you have used for TV advertising, there are scenes of our boys being killed in war. For you, the 44-day war and our losses in the 44-day war have been nothing more than pre-election video content.”
