European Union Urges Airlines to Avoid Iranian Airspace

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has advised airlines to avoid Iranian airspace following threats from the United States, according to information on the EASA website.

“Considering the current situation and the potential military operations from the U.S. that have brought Iran's air defense forces to a state of high readiness, the risk of misidentification of airborne objects in Tehran’s FIR responsibility zone is currently increasing,” the statement reads.

EASA emphasized that operating civilian flights in that area is risky due to the possible use of weapons and air defense systems, as well as the potential deployment of surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems.
