Russia is a European Country: Merz

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has described Russia as a European country and expressed hope for the restoration of relations.

His remarks were quoted by the Welt newspaper.

“If we succeed in restoring relations in the long term, if peace prevails, if freedom is guaranteed, if we achieve success in all of this... then the European Union, along with the Federal Republic of Germany, will undergo another trial,” Merz stated.
