Videos of Archbishop Arshak's Indecent Conduct Sent to Bishops' Phones: Bishop Gevorg

Videos depicting the indecent conduct of Archbishop Arshak were sent to the phones of bishops before being shared on the internet. This information was disclosed by Bishop Gevorg Saroyan, the head of the Mashtots Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, during a conversation with public figure Petros Ghazaryan, noting that they were dealing with a scandal.

“This scandal could not be concealed, nor could we provide any alternative commentary. For a considerable time, we requested a solution to this issue (referring to Ktrich Nersisyan). For a long period, we heard some unclear explanations that if he were removed, the Armenian Church would collapse. The people may have forgotten about it, but do we not have any responsibility for what has happened? If we, as the Church, do not express a position, this deprives us of any right to declare a stance on any issue at all. We needed to express a position and requested a suspension of him. A commission was formed, and that commission also suggested a suspension. Later, the issue of an examination arose, which was also presented, yet again, no progress was made on the issue. It was said that this wouldn't change anything.

We all know that Bishop Khajag also ensured the examination by that European organization, which also didn't receive any follow-up. Until today, this issue remains unresolved. Our voice of protest rose in this context when no further action was taken on the matter, and we realized that our church was simply going to be demoralized until the end, losing its overall right to express itself,” said the head of the Mashtots Diocese.
