US Using Russia and China to Promote Its Interests in the Arctic, China's Foreign Ministry
Beijing disagrees with the notion that the United States, Russia, or China should use each other as a pretext to advance their interests in the Arctic. This was stated by Mao Ning, the spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a briefing.
Earlier, during a visit to Iceland, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul suggested to US President Donald Trump to work together within NATO to counter the "threats" posed by Russia and China in the Arctic.
"Firstly, the Arctic affects the common interests of the international community, and China's activities in the Arctic contribute to strengthening peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region," said Mao Ning, in response to a request from RIA Novosti for comments on the German Foreign Minister's statements.
