According to Church Canon Law, Ktirit Nersisyan Could Not Be a Candidate for Catholicos: Khachatryan
Member of the Civil Contract party's Executive Board and MP of the National Assembly of Armenia, Armen Khachatryan, wrote on his Facebook page:
“According to church canon law, Ktirit Nersisyan could not be a candidate for Catholicos in 1999, as a prerequisite for candidacy is not only being Armenian but also being baptized in the Armenian Apostolic Church and being a lifelong bachelor. Ktirit Nersisyan became a candidate by presenting false information.
If we project this situation onto the administrative-legal or civil-legal field, then in such cases, any act accepted on false grounds is void, meaning it has no power from the moment of acceptance. The question arises: from the moment the falsification was revealed, are the acts adopted by Ktirit Nersisyan subject to execution?
In the context of the fight waged against the Republic of Armenia, should not the act of dismissal of Bishop Gevorg Saroyan of the Ararat Diocese be considered null and invalid? Meanwhile, I express my support for the pious clergyman Bishop Gevorg Saroyan of the Ararat Diocese,” wrote MP Armen Khachatryan.
