US Attempts to Seize Tanker Operating Under Russian Flag: BBC

The US Coast Guard attempted to seize the tanker Marinera, which was operating under a Russian flag, during a storm in the North Atlantic. This was reported by the BBC.

According to the outlet, an American ship continues to pursue the tanker, which is being monitored from the air by US Navy aircraft. A source from the television channel noted that any attempt to land an aircraft in storm conditions would pose a danger to Americans.

Currently, temperatures in the region are near freezing, wave heights are five meters, and winds reach speeds of 20 meters per second. Prior to this, CNN reported, citing its sources, that the US intends to seize the Marinera tanker, which, according to American authorities, is transporting sanctioned oil from Iran and Venezuela.
