US Considers Supplying Turkey with F-35 Fighter Jets
The United States is "seriously considering" the possibility of supplying Turkey with fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets. This was announced by US President Donald Trump during a joint press conference after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During the press conference, Trump was asked whether Washington would sell F-35s to Ankara. "We are thinking very seriously about it," he stated.
The White House leader also expressed confidence that Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would never use those fighter jets against Israel. "He will never use them against Israel," the US administration head assured.
The US removed Turkey from the F-35 development program in 2019 after NATO member Turkey purchased Russian missile defense systems.
