Preventive Power Outages at Several Addresses in Erebuni: Romanos Petrosyan

In recent years, the volume of electricity consumption in Armenia has increased intensively, with the peak consumption typically occurring on New Year's Eve, specifically on the evening of December 31. This was stated by the interim manager of the Electric Networks of Armenia, Romanos Petrosyan.

“On New Year’s Eve 2022, the load was 1.243 MW, in 2023 it rose to 1.264 MW, and for 2024, it is expected to reach 1.286 MW. Just a week ago, on December 23, the electric load in Armenia hit 1.489 MW during peak consumption hours. As of today at 3:00 PM, the electric load in Armenia has reached 1.547 MW, which is about 20% more compared to last year’s New Year’s Eve, despite the distribution network and infrastructure remaining largely outdated and in poor condition,” he noted.

“Dear citizens, we urge you to conserve electricity as much as possible during these days, and to refrain from using additional electricity-consuming appliances at home, in order to avoid overloading both your household consumption schemes and to save on your family budget.”

It is also mentioned that the recent accident at the “Vardashen” substation of the Electric Networks of Armenia is preliminarily attributed to the sudden increase in electrical loads compared to the average figures recorded in the area. Currently, there are preventive outages at several addresses in the Erebuni administrative district of Yerevan to facilitate the redistribution of additional load in the distribution network and to avoid emergency situations.
