US Strikes 'Major Target' in Venezuela: Trump

US President Donald Trump announced last week the destruction of a "major target" by American military forces in Venezuela, amidst ongoing tensions between the two countries.

"They (Venezuela) have a major factory or major object from which their ships come. We destroyed it two nights ago. We dealt them a serious blow," Trump stated.

Trump did not specify which target he was referring to or its location in Venezuela. According to CNN, an anonymous official from the US administration clarified Trump’s comments, stating that it pertains to a drug cartel facility, but did not provide further details regarding the potential strike.

Trump's announcement was the latest in a series of actions aimed at increasing pressure from Washington on Venezuela and its President Nicolás Maduro, including the seizure of tankers transporting Venezuelan oil and unprecedented military activity by the US near Venezuela's borders.
