Thousands of Drivers Protest in Hungary

Hungary is preparing to raise road tolls starting in January, which will hit small and medium-sized transport companies particularly hard. Thousands of truck drivers took part in a protest in Hungary, expressing their discontent with the sharp increase in road toll fees.

The union of truck drivers argues that the decision to raise infrastructure fees will not only affect transportation companies but also their clients, indirectly causing a significant rise in prices, especially for food.

The authorities have already labeled the protest as disproportionate. Officials explain that by regulating road tolls, they aim to redirect trucks to highways, and this measure has been approved by all interested parties, including the union.
