The Rate for 'Red Lines' Will Not Change
One of the unreported issues at today's session of the Yerevan City Council concerned the rates for local taxes and fees set for 2026. The package of proposals included the rates for paid parking spaces, known as 'red lines', as well as the tariffs for public transportation.
The opposition 'Mother Armenia' faction proposed that this issue be made reportable, considering its social significance. However, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan stated that there is no need for such a necessity, as no changes are planned regarding local taxes and fees. According to him, the rates proposed for 2026 are the same as those adopted last year.
'The rates are the same as we adopted last year; there is no change,' emphasized Avinyan.
It is worth recalling that until January 1, 2024, there was one unified rate for parking spaces in Yerevan. However, a decision made by the Yerevan City Council at the end of 2023 divided the city into two zones—'A' and 'B'. In zone 'A', the annual parking fee was set at 160,000 drams instead of the previous 12,000 drams, while in zone 'B', it was set at 24,000 drams. The fees for hourly, weekly, and monthly parking also saw significant increases.
