British Base Unfit for US Nuclear Weapons, Daily Mail Reports

The RAF Lakenheath base in the United Kingdom is currently deemed unfit for the deployment of US nuclear weapons, partly due to the fact that certain personnel would not have immediate access to restrooms in emergency situations, the Daily Mail reports, citing Pentagon documents.

At the end of July, the UK Defence Journal reported that the US had deployed nuclear weapons in the UK for the first time in 17 years. According to sources, B61-12 thermonuclear bombs have been stationed at the Suffolk-based RAF Lakenheath.

RIA Novosti, after reviewing documents from the US Air Force, reported that Washington plans to spend $253 million to build a command center and security complex at the Lakenheath airbase.
