It Is Possible to Achieve a Change of Power with the Right Positioning: Arthur Vanetsyan

“Yes, the situation of the united opposition is very sad. We need to find the courage to say this, but it does not mean that there is no hope,” said Arthur Vanetsyan, former Director of the NSS and leader of the 'Homeland' party, in an interview with 24news.

He pointed out that with the correct positioning, systematic work, and proper formations, it is possible to achieve a change of power.

“Real oppositionists cannot have insurmountable disagreements when it comes to the final goal, provided everyone is honest about the ultimate purpose. For me, the ultimate goal is to get rid of these authorities, regardless of who will be the prime minister. My goal is not to be a member of parliament as an opposition deputy, nor is my goal to have a faction; my goal is to liberate ourselves from these authorities. I ask everyone to be honest with themselves and understand whether they are fighting for that purpose or merely to remain in a political abyss,” Vanetsyan elaborated.

He also presented the formula for achieving a change of power: correct positioning of the opposition and defining the ultimate purpose. “Forces with genuine opposition views must gather together, fix the ultimate goal, and be honest with each other. The people notice all of this very well; if the people see honesty, they will participate in the elections, and if everyone participates, the authorities will have no chance of re-election, and that’s it,” he emphasized.

According to him, Nikol Pashinyan will do everything to prevent such formations and proper work from taking place.

“We must hold Nikol Pashinyan accountable for everything he does, but if you look from his perspective, he is doing his job well. Unfortunately, the agenda is dictated by him; he says we are going to the church, and we all rush to the church. If tomorrow he says we are going to seize the Matenadaran, we will rush to protect the Matenadaran. As a result, what do we end up with? A situation where Pashinyan can resolve his issues. He is clearly working on maintaining his electorate,” Arthur Vanetsyan stated.
