Will Sevan's Statue Remain or Not? The Poet's Grandson Speaks on the Criticism

The community of Zangakatun must decide whether the statue of Paruyr Sevak remains or not. In an interview with NEWS.am, Sevak Ghazaryan, the renowned poet's grandson and also the director of the poet's house-museum, expressed this opinion.

It is noteworthy that the statue of Sevak, installed in the yard of the village school, has been actively criticized on the internet for the past two days.

"First, it's important to note that this is a gift from Levon Tokmajyan; it is not a state order, and the community did not finance it. Mr. Tokmajyan offered to gift it to the community, which was accepted. Secondly, it is unacceptable to target community residents, particularly children, on social networks. I have come across numerous posts on Facebook that insult the residents of the village and the school students. This is absolutely intolerable. As for whether the statue will stay or not, it is up to the community to decide. I will be in the village tomorrow, and I will meet with the residents again to hear their opinions. After that, we will decide together," said Sevak Ghazaryan.

It should be noted that there is a vigorous discussion on the appearance of the statue online.
