Estonia Begins Construction of Bunkers on the Border with Russia

Estonia is constructing the first of 600 bunker lines along its southeastern border with Russia. According to Defense News, Estonia has commenced the construction of its first concrete bunkers on this border.

Currently, seven shelters are ready for installation, said Krismaar Rožin, a representative of the Estonian Center for Defense Investments. Authorities plan to deploy 28 bunkers by the end of the year.

The structures will be part of the first network of 600 shelters designed to protect the eastern flank of the European Union and NATO from a potential Russian "invasion." According to sources, the bunkers are expected to withstand hits from 152 mm artillery shells.

In September, the Estonian Isamaa (Fatherland) party introduced a bill in parliament to completely close the border with Russia. Earlier, Eastern European countries had proposed creating a "drone defense wall" along the border with Russia.
