We Exclude Any Attempt at Revenge – Now and in the Future: Pashinyan
If we try to compare the titles of the discussions - "The Prospects of Institutionalizing Peace in Armenia, Regional Connectivity, and Relations with the EU," with that of the previous one - "Security and Stability in the South Caucasus," it will reflect the historical developments and future prospects in our region - the South Caucasus. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“Today, I can confidently say that peace was established between Armenia and Azerbaijan on August 8 in Washington, when the President of Azerbaijan and I signed a joint declaration, which was also attended by the President of the United States, Donald Trump. According to the declaration, Armenia and Azerbaijan emphasized the necessity of creating a path for a bright future that is not linked to past conflicts and is in accordance with the United Nations Charter and the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration.
We are committed to paving the way to end hostility between our two countries. We resolutely reject and exclude any attempt at revenge – now and in the future. The agreed text of the agreement on establishing peace and interstate relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan was initially signed by the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in the presence of President Trump, President Aliyev, and myself.
One of the significant advancements achieved in Washington is the agreement on opening communications between the two countries for domestic, bilateral, and international transport, based on respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction of the states. These efforts should include an unobstructed link between the main part of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through the territory of the Republic of Armenia, bringing mutual benefits for the international and domestic connectivity of the Republic of Armenia,” said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
