Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Germany-US Relations

Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz has commented on the current state of relations with Washington, emphasizing that both countries mutually need strong global partners. “Strong global partners are essential for both America and Germany, and I see the USA as one of those partners, as I mentioned to Donald Trump during our discussions,” Merz stated.

According to him, the recently published new national security strategy of the USA, as well as the Vice President's speech at the Munich Security Conference, indicate that changes are occurring in transatlantic relations. “Despite these changes, I want our ties to remain partnership-oriented, and I hope that the USA sees it the same way,” added the Chancellor of Germany.
