Bishops Meeting with Nikol Pashinyan Release Statement

A group of bishops from the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church who met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has issued a statement, which in particular states: “We are saddened to learn that the upcoming Bishops’ Assembly has been postponed for unfounded reasons by His Holiness Garegin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, which should have provided all bishops the opportunity to express and substantiate our canonical views in a high forum. We regret that the serious issues raised by us remain unanswered.

Regarding the unfounded accusations addressed to the bishops by the Mother See, we once again REITERATE our unwavering commitment to the Holy Echmiadzin, loyalty to the canons and traditions of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, and our militarized community.

We call upon our spiritual brothers NOT TO FALL INTO PROVOCATIONS, to refrain from offensive discourse, and not to target the sacred mission of the bishops, while respecting the hierarchical order of the Church.

Once again, we REITERATE that it is IMPERATIVE to find fundamental solutions to the unacceptable phenomena surrounding our state and the Holy Church. We seek the boundless mercy and support of the Almighty Lord for our homeland, Holy Echmiadzin, and our pious people.”
