Zelensky Comments on Yermak's Resignation
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has stated that he continues to discuss potential candidates for the position of his office head, emphasizing that it is possible the position may remain vacant for some time. His statements were quoted by Strana.ua.
“In any case, I need to make a choice; otherwise, if too much time passes, I will adapt to the idea that I can manage without an office head, so I need to make a decision,” Zelensky remarked.
He has put forward several candidates including Defense Minister Denis Shmyhal, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kyrylo Budanov, First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia, Deputy Head of the Office Pavlo Palisai, and First Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, noting that there are specific issues with each candidate.
It is worth mentioning that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) conducted searches at Andriy Yermak's home. On the same day, Zelensky announced that Yermak had submitted his resignation, and later signed the order for his dismissal.
