US Expresses Concern, Urges Immediate Cessation of Hostilities: Rubio

The U.S. State Department has announced that the United States is concerned about ongoing combat operations and the presence of casualties at the Cambodia-Thailand border.

“We urge an immediate cessation of hostilities, protection of civilians, and a return to the de-escalation measures outlined in the October 26 Kuala Lumpur peace agreements,” emphasized Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Clashes with light weapons began on December 7 at the Thailand-Cambodia border. The Royal Thai Army reported on Monday that Cambodian forces began shelling Thai military positions located in the border area early in the morning. The Royal Thai Air Force responded by targeting Cambodian military infrastructure.

The second army region of Thailand stated that on Monday and Tuesday, Cambodia launched BM-21 rockets into Thai territory, also utilizing kamikaze drones. Thai forces returned fire to establish control over key areas and inflict damage on the enemy.
