It Will Be Very Expensive for Moscow, Says Ursula von der Leyen

The longer Russia’s war against Ukraine continues, the more expensive it will be for Moscow, stated European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen after a meeting in London with the "coalition of volunteers" and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“Ukraine is already included in 15 out of the 19 'SAFE' programs presented by EU countries. This is not just about money; Ukraine is learning heavy lessons on the battlefield, and we are learning alongside it. By integrating our defense industrial bases, we are creating a strong deterrent for today and tomorrow,” she noted.

“We all understand what is at stake and know that we can no longer afford to delay. Providing financial support will help ensure Ukraine’s resilience and is a significant part of Europe’s defense,” the statement reads.

According to the head of the European Commission, she presented two key actions at the meeting of the "coalition of volunteers"—supporting Ukraine and enhancing Europe’s defense readiness.

“Europe and its allies have the means and determination to increase pressure on Russia to bring it to the negotiating table,” von der Leyen added.
