EU Contradicts Peace Process, Says Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has issued a statement indicating that the "European Union-Armenia Strategic Partnership Agenda," which outlines the main directions for cooperation over the next seven years, "unacceptably" addresses issues related to Azerbaijan.

According to Baku, this not only disrupts the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan but may also adversely affect EU-Azerbaijan relations. The document also suggests that the EU could facilitate regional settlement by supporting the complete and immediate implementation of relevant decisions by the International Court.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry considers that this phrasing essentially highlights Armenia's proposed demands and contradicts the principle of "impartial mediation." Baku also disagrees with the point included in the document that discusses "prisoners." According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's statement, among them are individuals who are "accused or convicted of crimes against humanity or war crimes," and presenting their "release as a separate priority" is regarded by Baku as a "serious distortion of reality."
