Unwanted Signals Seen in U.S. National Security Strategy Program: Costa
The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, stated at a forum held in Brussels that the EU perceives unwanted signals regarding internal European processes in the new U.S. national security strategy. According to Euronews, Costa emphasized that the EU is not prepared to tolerate any threats of interference and will not accept evaluations of European political parties’ activities by other countries.
Costa also addressed Washington's criticism concerning the European Commission's decision to impose a €120 million fine on the social platform X. He noted that the protection of freedom of speech cannot be conducted at the expense of European citizens' informational rights.
Earlier, it was reported that the new U.S. strategy has sparked discontent among European officials. The document, released on December 5, expresses U.S. concerns about the future stability, economic and military capabilities of the EU, as well as the geopolitical outlook for Europe. According to these assessments, a number of European countries may struggle to maintain the capabilities required for allied relations with Washington.
