Georgia to Replace Russian Diesel Fuel with Azerbaijani
Georgia is preparing to fully transition to Azerbaijani diesel fuel, replacing Russian diesel fuel. This was announced by Vakhtang Iobashvili, president of the Georgian Oil Products Importers Union, in an interview with BusinessPress.
Iobashvili believes that the demand for diesel fuel from Azerbaijan has currently increased by 40% and will continue to grow in the future. According to him, the short route from Baku to Tbilisi reduces logistics costs, making Azerbaijani diesel fuel competitively priced.
Regarding the competitiveness of Azerbaijani diesel fuel for Georgia, Iobashvili noted that since prices are based on international Platts indices, significant differences between countries are not expected. However, the reduction in logistics costs may positively impact the final price of the fuel.
