Iran's Parliament Speaker Calls on Regional Countries Not to Test Tehran's Patience
Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has warned that those who lay claims to Iran's three islands should not test the Iranian people's resolve to defend the country's territorial integrity, reports Mehr.
Qalibaf noted that such claims, mentioned in the recent statement of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, are unacceptable. Speaking at an open session of Parliament and congratulating students on their day, he emphasized that students have been "social leaders in Iran's recent history in the fight against colonial powers and dictators."
Qalibaf commended the extensive naval drills conducted by the IRGC in the Persian Gulf, on the Nazhat Islands, and in the Strait of Hormuz, dedicated to the memory of martyr Mohammad Nazari. He also mentioned that the missiles used during the exercises accurately hit their intended targets.
The Speaker strongly condemned the unfounded claims made again in the recent statement of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council regarding Greater Tomb, Lesser Tomb, and Abu Musa islands. According to him, such baseless and absurd statements, often made under foreign influence, are incompatible with the principles of territorial integrity and good neighborliness.
He advised neighboring countries in the region not to test the Iranian people's will to protect the country's territorial integrity and the islands of the Persian Gulf, which he referred to as an inseparable part of Iran. Qalibaf added that Iran has always sought to uphold the principles of stability, peace, and good neighborliness and expects the same from its neighbors.
