Azerbaijan Seeks to Settle 300,000 Azerbaijanis in Armenia
Azerbaijan has once again made a demand to settle 300,000 Azerbaijanis in Armenia. This was stated at a conference held in Baku on the theme of “Cultural Heritage and the Right to Return: Restoring the Cultural Heritage of Azerbaijanis Deported from Armenia as a Path to Justice, Reconciliation, and Peace.”
The head of the administration of the organization called “Community of Western Azerbaijan,” Aziz Alekberov, noted that this organization unites thousands of people who, according to him, have been displaced from Armenia in various phases over the past two centuries. He stated that the purpose of the organization is to secure the “return of more than 300,000 refugees who were forcibly removed from their historical residences.”
The text mentions Azerbaijan's claims over the Syunik region and states that if the Armenian authorities agree to the demands presented, Azerbaijan's next step could be the occupation of Zangezur. It is added that Baku is strengthening its positions with “historical facts” published by the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
