Aliyev on the Return of Azerbaijanis to Armenia

The restoration and protection of cultural heritage is a legitimate demand of the Azerbaijani people in Armenia, stated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. He emphasized that this should be respected as universal values, to close the chapter of enmity and promote mutual understanding between nations.

Aliyev reiterated his comments regarding the rights of the so-called 'Western Azerbaijan' community. 'Today, it is important to intensify efforts to ensure the return of Azerbaijanis who were forcibly displaced from Armenia. Ultimately, the right to return is one of the fundamental principles of human rights. Ensuring this right means not only the physical return to the homeland but also the restoration of spiritual integrity, cultural heritage, and the historical memory of society,' said Aliyev.
