€120 Million Fine: The European Union's New Decision Regarding X

The European Commission has fined X €120 million. This was announced by the Commission's spokesperson Thomas Renier during a press briefing in Brussels.

“Today, the European Commission has fined X €120 million for violating the Digital Services Act. This is the first fine for breaching the Digital Services Act,” he stated. Renier added that the penalty was due to violations of “transparency obligations.”

Specifically, users of X can pay for a “blue checkmark” that indicates a verified account. Additionally, the fine is related to X's advertising repository, which holds advertising materials and data.

According to him, X's repository “is not functioning properly and does not provide efficient access to data for researchers.”

It is noteworthy that the U.S. Vice President had issued a “stern” warning to the European Union.
