This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press briefing, responding to a question about whether he had tried to have a private conversation with the Catholicos before making a public statement about the church and the Catholicos.

“I believe that nothing causes greater harm to the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church than Ktritch Nersisyan's presence at the Mother See, and not only his. It is not a matter of demand; it is not that someone is demanding Ktritch Nersisyan’s resignation. We say that a process has begun, and he must leave there.
