Central Bank Warns: Fraudsters Attempting to Extort Money in Its Name
Recently, in schemes of fraud, scammers have posed as representatives of the Central Bank to extort money from clients through fake letters and phone calls, urging them to transfer their financial resources to other accounts. This information has been reported by the Central Bank of Armenia.
“We inform you that the Central Bank of Armenia does not make such announcements or phone calls, does not send messages, and does not provide banking services to individuals. If you receive a call or establish contact in any other way from someone claiming to be from the Central Bank, and they request or pressure you to transfer money to more ‘protected’ or ‘special’ accounts to avoid fraud and financial loss, we urge citizens not to take any action, not to share personal or banking information with anyone, and to immediately contact your servicing bank,” the statement reads.
