Trump Administration to Close Overseas Offices of Voice of America

According to information obtained by The New York Times, a notification sent to Congress indicates that U.S. authorities are preparing to cease operations of several overseas structures of Voice of America by closing both offices and regional radio broadcasts.

Published data reveals that the administration plans to shut down six foreign bureaus and four marketing offices in Jakarta, Islamabad, Nairobi, and Prague. Additionally, Voice of America's radio broadcast operations in Germany, Thailand, Botswana, and Djibouti will be discontinued.

It's worth noting that in April of this year, a U.S. court ordered the Trump administration to reinstate the operations of the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), of which Voice of America is a part, and to rehire all employees who had been removed from the agency.
