Zelensky Makes a Series of Statements
Following a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that discussions regarding the peace plan are making progress, but the territorial issue remains the most complex aspect.
During the conversation, he also provided an assessment of the situation on the front lines and outlined Kyiv's priorities. During his working visit to France, Zelensky emphasized that the key and most challenging part of the peace negotiations continues to be the territorial issue. According to him, around six hours have been dedicated solely to discussions on this topic, and the currently presented peace plan "seems more balanced and realistic from various sources."
Zelensky also addressed the situation on the battlefield, noting that Russia has made advances in certain directions and conducted several offensive operations; however, he remarked that "no military operation has been successful for the Russian side."
In discussing the potential appointment of a new head of the Ukrainian president's office, Zelensky highlighted that there are "worthy individuals," and consultations will take place on this matter soon.
According to the Ukrainian president, Russia has suffered its greatest losses in the last almost four years, particularly in the penultimate month, with approximately 25,500 military personnel lost.
Zelensky stressed that Kyiv's priorities remain unchanged: the formation of alternative security mechanisms for the country and the full preservation of state sovereignty. He also reminded that "the initiator of this war is Russia, and only Russia can end it."
The Ukrainian president added that the war must end "with honor and justice," stating that we are currently in a very critical period when the situation can significantly change. He noted that active work is underway to ensure that "a third invasion from the Russian Federation never occurs" and that arrangements regarding peace are not violated.
