Under What Circumstances Will the Father Superior of the Mother See Leave Office and Abandon the Order
The Father Superior of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan, has announced that he currently has no intention of resigning from his position, but he has not ruled out such a move if it becomes necessary for the interests of the church. This was stated by the clergyman during a press conference held on December 1, in response to a journalist's question.
“When I assess that it is effective and useful for the benefit of the church, I am ready to take any step. This could involve not only resigning from my position but also leaving my order. In that regard, I see no issue. But I am not going to take a step that would suggest that what is attributed to me is true,” he said.
Khachatryan reiterated that the videos attributed to him are fake, and no threat or pressure can compel him to abandon his beliefs. According to him, he has inadvertently found himself at the center of “certain political and social processes.”
