Arman Tsarukyan Explains Why UFC Did Not Give Him a Title Shot

The number one contender in the UFC lightweight division, Armenia's Arman Tsarukyan, has spoken about the unfolding events in his weight class.

“Why was I not given the opportunity to fight for the title? I believe it’s UFC’s plan, not Topuria’s family issue. They want to make Paddy Pimblett a star so he can fight Ilia. They know I can beat anyone. Paddy, Justin, and Ilia are easy opponents for me. Islam was a tough competitor, but he's gone, so now there’s no one at my level in this division,” said Arman in an interview with ESPN.

It is worth noting that Pimblett and Gaethje will fight for the interim lightweight title at UFC 324, which will take place in Las Vegas, USA, on January 25, 2026. Afterwards, according to UFC President Dana White, the winner of the match will face the reigning champion Ilia Topuria, who is currently on a brief hiatus due to personal issues.
