US Senate Freezes Discussion on Anti-Russian Sanction Package

According to Kyiv Post, the US Senate has frozen the discussion of the anti-Russian sanctions package until next week’s planned visit of US Special Envoy Stephen Wittkoff to Moscow.

Republican sources have informed the publication that the delay in the bill's passage could be attributed solely to the disposition of US President Donald Trump, which they say is decisive for almost all foreign policy decisions in Washington.

The publication notes that the postponement of the bill's discussion reflects an increase in the role of diplomatic agencies in managing the geopolitical situation, rather than Congress.

Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced that Wittkoff will visit Russia next week. He stated that the American side will discuss the US peace plan on Ukraine during the meeting.
