Putin Assures Orban That If Peace Summit on Ukraine Takes Place, It Will Be Held in Budapest

Vladimir Putin has assured Viktor Orban that if a peace summit regarding Ukraine is held, it will take place in Budapest, announced Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.

"The Hungarian Foreign Minister described the meeting between Orban and Putin, which took place in Moscow. Orban's meeting with President Putin has concluded. We have achieved what we came for: Hungary's energy security is guaranteed. President Putin confirmed that Russia will timely supply gas and oil according to contractual volumes via the Druzhba pipeline and the Turkish Stream gas pipeline. We also agreed to significantly accelerate the construction of the Paks nuclear power plant. All technical preparatory works are proceeding on schedule, and earthworks will begin on February 5. This is an important step towards ensuring long-term, stable, and affordable energy supply for Hungary," Szijjarto stated.

Regarding the war in Ukraine, Prime Minister Orban reiterated that Hungary is in favor of peace. President Putin also confirmed that if a peace summit takes place, it will be held in Budapest.
