Former Boxer Vanes Martirosyan Passes Away
Renowned boxer Vanes Norik Martirosyan has passed away at the age of 40. The cause of death was squamous cell carcinoma, a battle he fought for a year, reports sportaran.com.
Vanes Martirosyan was considered one of the most influential figures in both Armenian and American boxing. He was an eight-time champion of Armenia, a winner of the Golden Gloves in the U.S., and had also participated in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
In his professional career, he achieved numerous prestigious titles, including NABF World Champion, NABO vacant title, WBA International, WBC Silver, and WBO Inter-Continental in the super welterweight division.
Martirosyan's last bout took place in 2018 against the legendary Gennady Golovkin, marking the final chapter of his career.
