Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration on Activities of Armenian Truck Drivers in Russia

The Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Armen Simonian, stated during a meeting of the National Assembly's standing committee on regional and Eurasian integration that no legal acts have yet been adopted regarding the unhindered activities of Armenian truck drivers in Russia.

“This issue has been raised in all EEU member countries (with the exception of Russia and Belarus). After several phases of discussions, our Russian colleagues announced that they have initiated the relevant legal processes to establish a different migration regime for the drivers,” Simonian emphasized. He noted that the Russian Ministry of Transport has also provided relevant proposals to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and that the process is ongoing; however, as of now, no legal act that has been adopted is known.

“Our partners are reporting that they are working in this direction,” the deputy minister added.
