Armenia Elected for the First Time to UNESCO World Heritage Committee
On November 24, during the 25th session of the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, Armenia was elected to the World Heritage Committee for the first time.
This information was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the phase of elections for the available seats, Armenia achieved an outstanding result, receiving 105 votes out of a possible 161, which demonstrates the high level of confidence the international community has in Armenia's efforts to preserve cultural heritage.
By accepting its membership in the World Heritage Committee, Armenia has reaffirmed its commitment to the protection, preservation, and restoration of cultural and natural heritage, as well as to promoting the fundamental principles of the World Heritage Convention through international collaborative efforts.
