Potential Impact of the Opening of the 'Zangezur Corridor' on Georgia, Advisor Says
The project of the 'Zangezur Corridor' will be beneficial for the entire region.
Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, stated this in response to reporters' questions regarding whether Georgia would lose its role in the Middle Corridor after the opening of the Zangezur Corridor.
According to him, Georgia welcomes the initiative. “The peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia creates new perspectives for the entire region, and this is not only related to the function of the transport corridor. It is important to offer more favorable conditions to carriers, and competition provides a more advantageous basis for this. On the other hand, this initiative is a sign of stability in the region. Stability, in turn, will contribute to increased investments for both the infrastructure of the corridor and the development of various sectors in the region,” he stated.
