Armenia to Fight Against Cultural Heritage Theft with Greece
The theft of cultural heritage in cooperation with Greece, illegal excavations, and the illicit import, export, and transfer of ownership rights will be prevented under an agreement ratified during a session of the Armenian government today.
"The agreement contributes to the preservation and proper protection of the cultural heritage of both countries and that belonging to all mankind," states the rationale behind the decision.
Within the framework of the agreement, there will also be programs for the exchange and retraining of specialists aimed at preventing illegal movement and facilitating the restitution and return of cultural heritage to their countries of origin.
