Trump Surprised by Putin in Russia-Ukraine Conflict

US President Donald Trump has stated that he is surprised by the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine, but has confirmed his intention to seek its resolution.

"In fact, I have already ended eight wars. I have one left to resolve with Russian President Vladimir Putin. I am a little surprised by Putin; it has lasted longer than I expected," Trump said during a meeting at the White House with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that Russia is ready to discuss the political aspects of the resolution with Ukraine and is willing to work in any format. Meanwhile, Moscow has yet to receive a response from Kyiv regarding the proposal to create three working groups for more specific discussions on humanitarian, military, and political issues, which the Russian side had presented during the third round of negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul in July.

Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate in Moscow.
