What Punishments Were Demanded by the Prosecutors for Armenian Prisoners of War
Life imprisonment for Harutyunyan and Babayan. What punishments were demanded by the "prosecutors" for Armenian military captives? Azerbaijani media reports on this issue.
Arayik Harutyunyan, Levon Mnatsakanyan, Davit Manukyan, Davit Ishkhanyan, and Davit Babayan face life imprisonment.
Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Madat Babayan, and Melikset Pashayan are facing 20 years.
Garik Martirosyan is facing 19 years, Davit Allahverdyan 18 years, Levon Balayan 17 years, and Vasili Beglaryan, Gurgen Stepanyan, and Erik Ghazaryan 16 years.
During the trial, it was noted that although Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, and Madat Babayan are being held accountable for "crimes" punishable by life imprisonment and their guilt has been proven during the trial, the final verdict (i.e., the court's decision) has not yet been rendered.
Since the defendants have reached the age of 65, they cannot be sentenced to life imprisonment under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The next hearing is scheduled for November 27.
