Latvia and Estonia Ready to Close Border with Belarus

The Prime Minister of Lithuania, Ingrida Šimonytė, has announced that Latvia and Estonia are prepared to stand in solidarity and close the border with Belarus if pressures and hybrid attacks from Minsk continue. According to the Prime Minister, the Baltic partners have assured Vilnius that they are ready to take such a step to ensure collective security.

“We have received assurances from Latvia and Estonia that if the Belarusian regime continues to attack us, and if the situation cannot be resolved, they are ready to stand together and close the border,” Šimonytė stated.

She emphasized that the three countries are working together on regional security issues and are prepared for coordinated decisions if threats persist.
