Armenian Prime Minister Takes Serious Risks, Says Turkish Transport Minister
The "Zangezur Corridor" will reduce distances, lower costs, and strengthen Turkey's regional trade power, stated Turkey's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, as reported by Ermenihaber.
Uraloglu specifically noted that the projects for the "Zangezur Corridor" and the Alijani border checkpoint will reaffirm Turkey's role in the regional trade network. According to Uraloglu, the "Zangezur Corridor" will create a new trade route from Asia to Europe, directly connecting Turkey and Azerbaijan.
Regarding the Alijani border checkpoint, Uraloglu mentioned that preparations for the checkpoint have already begun. He pointed out that specific plans have been devised, including an assessment of the current condition of the bridge near the checkpoint and the construction of a new one.
“We have finalized our plans, including the assessment and restoration of the current condition of the bridge. We are making rapid progress towards a consensus process together with Azerbaijan and Armenia. When the peace process is completed, the Alijani checkpoint will open,” Uraloglu said.
Speaking about the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Uraloglu mentioned that he has met with the ministers from both countries. “A serious reconciliation process is underway here. In particular, the Prime Minister of Armenia is undertaking very serious initiatives and risks. We are closely monitoring them,” Uraloglu added.
According to Uraloglu, such developments will enhance the effectiveness of the "Zangezur Corridor" and make the trade route from China to Great Britain more efficient. He also added that the Kars line will shape not only the future of Turkey but also that of the South Caucasus and Eurasia.
