Azerbaijani Ambassador Reveals New Phase in Baku-Moscow Relations
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Russia, Rahman Mustafaev, stated in an interview with RTVI that the relations between Baku and Moscow have reached a new level of allied cooperation.
According to the ambassador, the resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict has created favorable conditions for the development of these relations. “The end of the conflict has freed Azerbaijan's resources for the implementation of strategic economic and transport projects that will connect the economies of Russia, Turkey, Iran, Central Asian, and Middle Eastern countries,” he noted, emphasizing the 'North-South' corridor and the 'Middle Corridor' project.
Mustafaev also announced that the process of demarcating the Armenian-Azerbaijani border has begun, clarifying a 13-kilometer segment. The two countries have opened their airspaces for passenger flights and transit cargo.
As part of confidence-building measures, a group of representatives from Azerbaijan's civil society recently visited Yerevan. He also mentioned that relations between Russia and Azerbaijan have undergone certain trials, particularly due to the incident involving the downing of an AZAL aircraft last December; however, the meeting between Putin and Aliyev in Dushanbe on October 9 was positively assessed in Baku.
