US Congress Ends Government Shutdown
The US Senate has approved a series of funding bills aimed at ending the government shutdown, commonly referred to as a shutdown in the country.
During the session, 60 senators voted in favor of the bills, while 40 opposed them. The government had been shut down since October 1, as Republicans and Democrats struggled to reach an agreement on subsidies for the Obamacare healthcare program and funding for the Medicaid program.
With the passage of the new financial package, it is expected that the operations of federal agencies will resume in the coming days, and tens of thousands of federal employees will return to work.
