Rumors of the Catholicos's Resignation and the Demotion of Archbishop Arshak are False, Says Father Esayi

Reports regarding the resignation of His Holiness Catholicos Garegin II and the demand for the demotion of Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan are misinformation. This was stated to Sputnik Armenia by Father Esayi Khazhakyan, the director of the information system at the Mother See.

“The information appearing in the press regarding the resignation of the Supreme Patriarch and the demand for the demotion of Archbishop Arshak is not true and is fabricated. In connection with the investigation of the inappropriate content of videos attributed to Archbishop Arshak, the Supreme Patriarch, taking into account the presented proposals, has established a commission to study the issue and present conclusions,” noted Father Esayi.
