The Mother See Issues a Statement
The Supreme Spiritual Council meeting has concluded. The information system of the Mother See has released a statement:
“The Council has strongly condemned the illegal actions directed against the rights of the Church and its clergy, as well as the spread of hate speech and intolerance through anti-church rhetoric. According to the Council, such phenomena disrupt the principles of freedom of conscience and expression, as well as public solidarity.
It has been noted that the accusations against clergy and the preventive measures applied are based on unjust facts and contradict international standards for fair trial and restriction of personal freedom.
The Council deems it necessary to take steps toward restoring the rights and liturgical life of the Mother See concerning the Hovhannavank, protecting the spiritual-canonical life of believers, and ensuring the normal functioning of the clergy,” the statement reads.
